Pioneer of the movement to bring Konpa to Canada and around the world, sharing her rich Haitian heritage.
Q: How did you start teaching?
A: Although it was a little scary, I was thrilled to be invited to develop the technique of teaching Konpa dancing. Historically, it's been a dance passed down through the community. We mapped out the basic steps, posture, point of connection, etc… And after a lot of hard work. now, it's a privilege to be able to teach and practice my craft. To this day, I continue to develop and master the art of teaching!
Q: How does Konpa make you feel?
A: The music washes away all my worries and stress. It makes me get up and want to interpret the melody through body movement. I love the fact that I can understand the language because it allows me to dance to the emotion behind the rhythm.
